Crockett Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Houston County, the 213th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Crockett district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Crockett Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2015 and has dedicated his life serving the Crockett. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Houston County Courthouse. The Crockett Justice of Peace Court is located on 110 East Houston Avenue in the city of Crockett, the Houston county seat.

The administration of justice in the Crockett Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Houston County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Houston County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Crockett Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1887 in the Houston Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in November 1865. Four courthouses have been built in Crockett. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 936-544-2564 or fax 936-544-1460 to the court during office hours to get more information.
