Lipan Municipal Court serves the residents of Hood County, the 165th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Lipan district clerk and county clerk. Lipan Municipal Court was first built in 1870 in the Hood Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in June 1891. Four courthouses have been built in Lipan. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
