Hood District Court serves the residents of Hood County, the 165th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Granbury district clerk and county clerk. Hood District Court was first built in 1887 in the Hood Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in February 1858. Four courthouses have been built in Granbury. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
