Hood District Court serves the residents of Hood County, the 165th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Granbury district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Hood District Court judge has been in office since 2010 and has dedicated his life serving the Granbury. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Hood County Courthouse. The Hood District Court is located on 1200 West Pearl Street in the city of Granbury, the Hood county seat.

The administration of justice in the Hood District Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Hood County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Hood County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site http://www.co.hood.tx.us/218/355th-District-Judge.

Hood District Court was first built in 1887 in the Hood Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in February 1858. Four courthouses have been built in Granbury. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 817-579-3233 or fax 817-579-3243 to the court during office hours to get more information.
