Ropesville Municipal Court was first built in 1893 in the Hockley Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in January 1870. Four courthouses have been built in Ropesville. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
