Poynor Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Henderson County, the 19th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the LaRue district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Poynor Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2012 and has dedicated his life serving the LaRue. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Henderson County Courthouse. The Poynor Justice of Peace Court is located on 12103 Farm to Market 315 in the city of LaRue, the Henderson county seat.

The administration of justice in the Poynor Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Henderson County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Henderson County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Poynor Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1853 in the Henderson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in November 1858. Four courthouses have been built in LaRue. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 903-876-2711 or fax 903-876-2867 to the court during office hours to get more information.
