San Marcos Municipal Court serves the residents of Hays County, the 144th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the San Marcos district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current San Marcos Municipal Court judge has been in office since 2011 and has dedicated his life serving the San Marcos. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Hays County Courthouse. The San Marcos Municipal Court is located on 630 East Hopkins Street in the city of San Marcos, the Hays county seat.

The administration of justice in the San Marcos Municipal Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Hays County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Hays County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

San Marcos Municipal Court was first built in 1915 in the Hays Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1854. Four courthouses have been built in San Marcos. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 512-393-8190 or fax 512-353-8190 to the court during office hours to get more information.
