Southside Place Municipal Court was first built in 1870 in the Harris Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in January 1912. Four courthouses have been built in Houston. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
