Hays District Court IV was first built in 1876 in the Guadalupe Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1887. Four courthouses have been built in Seguin. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
