Navasota Municipal Court serves the residents of Grimes County, the 122th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Navasota Municipal Court was first built in 1863 in the Grimes Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in June 1903. Four courthouses have been built in Navasota. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
