Grimes County Court serves the residents of Grimes County, the 122th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Anderson district clerk and county clerk. Grimes County Court was first built in 1889 in the Grimes Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1884. Four courthouses have been built in Anderson. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
