Grimes County Court serves the residents of Grimes County, the 122th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Anderson district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Grimes County Court judge has been in office since 2010 and has dedicated his life serving the Anderson. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Grimes County Courthouse. The Grimes County Court is located on West Buffington Avenue in the city of Anderson, the Grimes county seat.

The administration of justice in the Grimes County Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Grimes County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Grimes County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site http://www.co.grimes.tx.us/default.aspx?Grimes_County/Court%20dates.

Grimes County Court was first built in 1889 in the Grimes Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1884. Four courthouses have been built in Anderson. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 936-873-4476 or fax 936-873-5065 to the court during office hours to get more information.
