Waelder Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1907 in the Gonzales Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in May 1911. Four courthouses have been built in Waelder. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
