Nixon Municipal Court was first built in 1889 in the Gonzales Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in December 1862. Four courthouses have been built in Nixon. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
