Seminole Municipal Court serves the residents of Gaines County, the 194th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Seminole Municipal Court was first built in 1875 in the Gaines Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1908. Four courthouses have been built in Seminole. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
