Teague Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1898 in the Freestone Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in November 1884. Four courthouses have been built in Teague. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
