Freestone District Court serves the residents of Freestone County, the 96th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Fairfield district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Freestone District Court judge has been in office since 2014 and has dedicated his life serving the Fairfield. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Freestone County Courthouse. The Freestone District Court is located on 118 East Commerce Street in the city of Fairfield, the Freestone county seat.

The administration of justice in the Freestone District Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Freestone County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Freestone County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Freestone District Court was first built in 1886 in the Freestone Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1913. Four courthouses have been built in Fairfield. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 903-389-4836 or fax 903-389-3829 to the court during office hours to get more information.
