Thompsons Municipal Court serves the residents of Fort Bend County, the 100th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Richmond district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Thompsons Municipal Court judge has been in office since 2017 and has dedicated his life serving the Richmond. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Fort Bend County Courthouse. The Thompsons Municipal Court is located on 520 Thompson Oil Field Road in the city of Richmond, the Fort Bend county seat.

The administration of justice in the Thompsons Municipal Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Fort Bend County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Thompsons Municipal Court was first built in 1855 in the Fort Bend Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in June 1913. Four courthouses have been built in Richmond. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 281-343-9929 to the court during office hours to get more information.
