Thompsons Municipal Court serves the residents of Fort Bend County, the 100th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Thompsons Municipal Court was first built in 1855 in the Fort Bend Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in June 1913. Four courthouses have been built in Richmond. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
