Rotan Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Fisher County, the 79th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Rotan district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Rotan Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2010 and has dedicated his life serving the Rotan. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Fisher County Courthouse. The Rotan Justice of Peace Court is located on 106 East Sammy Baugh Avenue in the city of Rotan, the Fisher county seat.

The administration of justice in the Rotan Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Fisher County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Fisher County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Rotan Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1865 in the Fisher Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1882. Four courthouses have been built in Rotan. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 325-735-2170 or fax 325-776-2815 to the court during office hours to get more information.
