Flatonia Municipal Court was first built in 1866 in the Fayette Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in April 1908. Four courthouses have been built in Flatonia. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
