Socorro Municipal Court serves the residents of El Paso County, the 252th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Socorro Municipal Court was first built in 1853 in the El Paso Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in November 1920. Four courthouses have been built in Socorro. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
