Ector District Court serves the residents of Ector County, the 78th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Odessa district clerk and county clerk. Ector District Court was first built in 1918 in the Ector Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in May 1854. Four courthouses have been built in Odessa. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
