Lamesa Municipal Court was first built in 1904 in the Dawson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in April 1878. Four courthouses have been built in Lamesa. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
