Grand Prairie Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Dallas County, the 66th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Grand Prairie district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Grand Prairie Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2016 and has dedicated his life serving the Grand Prairie. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Dallas County Courthouse. The Grand Prairie Justice of Peace Court is located on 630 West Main Street in the city of Grand Prairie, the Dallas county seat.

The administration of justice in the Grand Prairie Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Dallas County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Dallas County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Grand Prairie Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1866 in the Dallas Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1860. Four courthouses have been built in Grand Prairie. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 214-875-2100 or fax 972-264-8354 to the court during office hours to get more information.
