Culberson County Court serves the residents of Culberson County, the 169th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Van Horn district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Culberson County Court judge has been in office since 2011 and has dedicated his life serving the Van Horn. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Culberson County Courthouse. The Culberson County Court is located on 300 La Caverna Street in the city of Van Horn, the Culberson county seat.

The administration of justice in the Culberson County Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Culberson County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Culberson County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Culberson County Court was first built in 1875 in the Culberson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in September 1901. Four courthouses have been built in Van Horn. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 432-283-2059 or fax 432-283-9234 to the court during office hours to get more information.
