Crane Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Crane County, the 127th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Crane district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Crane Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2017 and has dedicated his life serving the Crane. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Crane County Courthouse. The Crane Justice of Peace Court is located on 201 West 6th Street in the city of Crane, the Crane county seat.

The administration of justice in the Crane Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Crane County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Crane County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Crane Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1879 in the Crane Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1903. Four courthouses have been built in Crane. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 432-558-1108 or fax 432-558-1185 to the court during office hours to get more information.
