Valley View Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Cooke County, the 90th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Valley View district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Valley View Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2019 and has dedicated his life serving the Valley View. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Cooke County Courthouse. The Valley View Justice of Peace Court is located on 304 West Obuch Street in the city of Valley View, the Cooke county seat.

The administration of justice in the Valley View Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Cooke County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Cooke County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Valley View Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1853 in the Cooke Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in November 1870. Four courthouses have been built in Valley View. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 940-726-3539 or fax 940-726-5092 to the court during office hours to get more information.
