Lucas Municipal Court serves the residents of Collin County, the 99th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Allen district clerk and county clerk. Lucas Municipal Court was first built in 1873 in the Collin Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in January 1908. Four courthouses have been built in Allen. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
