Collin District Court serves the residents of Collin County, the 99th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Collin District Court was first built in 1899 in the Collin Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in April 1901. Four courthouses have been built in McKinney. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
