Childress District Court serves the residents of Childress County, the 137th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Childress district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Childress District Court judge has been in office since 2019 and has dedicated his life serving the Childress. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Childress County Courthouse. The Childress District Court is located on 100 Avenue E Northwest in the city of Childress, the Childress county seat.

The administration of justice in the Childress District Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Childress County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Childress County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Childress District Court was first built in 1858 in the Childress Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1874. Four courthouses have been built in Childress. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 806-874-0122 to the court during office hours to get more information.
