Jacksonville Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1884 in the Cherokee Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1915. Four courthouses have been built in Jacksonville. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
