Skellytown Municipal Court was first built in 1886 in the Carson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in November 1903. Four courthouses have been built in Skellytown. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
