Panhandle Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Carson County, the 38th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Panhandle district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Panhandle Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2010 and has dedicated his life serving the Panhandle. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Carson County Courthouse. The Panhandle Justice of Peace Court is located on 501 Main Street in the city of Panhandle, the Carson county seat.

The administration of justice in the Panhandle Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Carson County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Carson County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Panhandle Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1861 in the Carson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in June 1890. Four courthouses have been built in Panhandle. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 806-537-3722 or fax 806-537-3724 to the court during office hours to get more information.
