Port Isabel Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1866 in the Cameron Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in May 1901. Four courthouses have been built in Port Isabel. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
