Eddie Trevino Jr.

Harrison Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Cameron County, the 209th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Brownsville district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Harrison Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2018 and has dedicated his life serving the Brownsville. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Cameron County Courthouse. The Harrison Justice of Peace Court is located on 974 East Harrison Street in the city of Brownsville, the Cameron county seat.

The administration of justice in the Harrison Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Cameron County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Cameron County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Harrison Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1878 in the Cameron Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in December 1870. Four courthouses have been built in Brownsville. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 956-544-0857 or fax 956-548-9573 to the court during office hours to get more information.
