Martindale Municipal Court was first built in 1849 in the Caldwell Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in September 1854. Four courthouses have been built in Martindale. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
