Caldwell County Court I serves the residents of Caldwell County, the 159th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Lockhart district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Caldwell County Court I judge has been in office since 2015 and has dedicated his life serving the Lockhart. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Caldwell County Courthouse. The Caldwell County Court I is located on 110 South Main Street in the city of Lockhart, the Caldwell county seat.

The administration of justice in the Caldwell County Court I is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Caldwell County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Caldwell County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Caldwell County Court I was first built in 1848 in the Caldwell Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1903. Four courthouses have been built in Lockhart. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 512-398-1809 or fax 512-398-1828 to the court during office hours to get more information.
