Jones Creek Municipal Court was first built in 1862 in the Brazoria Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in May 1867. Four courthouses have been built in Freeport. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
