Maud Municipal Court serves the residents of Bowie County, the 41th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Maud district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Maud Municipal Court judge has been in office since 2011 and has dedicated his life serving the Maud. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Bowie County Courthouse. The Maud Municipal Court is located on 135 Main Street in the city of Maud, the Bowie county seat.

The administration of justice in the Maud Municipal Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Bowie County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Bowie County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Maud Municipal Court was first built in 1859 in the Bowie Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in April 1891. Four courthouses have been built in Maud. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 903-585-2294 to the court during office hours to get more information.
