Bowie County at Law was first built in 1847 in the Bowie Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in November 1916. Four courthouses have been built in New Boston. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
