Skidmore Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Bee County, the 103th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Skidmore district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Skidmore Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2014 and has dedicated his life serving the Skidmore. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Bee County Courthouse. The Skidmore Justice of Peace Court is located on 301 East Sullivan Street in the city of Skidmore, the Bee county seat.

The administration of justice in the Skidmore Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Bee County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Bee County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Skidmore Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1899 in the Bee Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1857. Four courthouses have been built in Skidmore. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 361-287-3436 to the court during office hours to get more information.
