Poteet Municipal Court serves the residents of Atascosa County, the 215th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Poteet Municipal Court was first built in 1919 in the Atascosa Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in June 1910. Four courthouses have been built in Poteet. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
