Elkhart Municipal Court was first built in 1914 in the Anderson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in January 1884. Four courthouses have been built in Elkhart. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
